Gabbeh Rug!

Gabbeh, also spelt Gaba or Gabeh, is the name given to a specific rug woven by the Luri and Qashqai tribes. They are coarsely woven, brightly coloured and have a thick pile. Traditionally Gabeh’s were made for domestic use and not for the market. Most of the ones traded are sold in the Shiraz bazaar. Typically the warps, wefts and pile are all of the hand-spun wool and there are no fringes: the kilim at the end is tucked in and sewn up.
There is a huge variety of different designs: geometrical motifs, animals, architectural. Sometimes Gabehs are coarse rewordings of carpet designs from elsewhere in Iran. These are often referred to as Old Gabehs. Typically colours are red, orange and deep blue. Some Gabehs woven by the Lurs have piled on both sides. These are used as blankets and known as Gabeh patuee. We have one of the best collection of them here in Brisbane in different colours and modern patterns in very low price.

The Entrance Hall

The entrance hall in most homes is usually a very small area, an area which more often than not is not blessed with a great deal of natural light. All of which means that it can be a bit of a challenge when it comes to choosing how to decorate it and what kind of Rugs, furniture is most appropriate for this space.
The hall is the first thing visitors will see when they arrive at your home, and as the saying goes, you only get one chance to make a first impression. You have to take care of every detail when decorating and, most importantly, make good use of the available space.
Another good tip if you want to make the hall area look bigger is to use a large mirror or perhaps a set of small matching mirrors. Below the mirror, you can put a shelf with a vase, a small tray for keys, family photos, an incense holder or a maybe even some beautiful scented candles.
When it comes to the choice of floor coverings you should bear in mind that the hallway has the greatest amount of foot traffic of any area of the home. Accordingly, it is best to lay a hard-wearing carpet, which will enhance the area as well as creating a very cosy feeling to the entrance of your home.
However, even the hardest wearing carpet will not look very good for long if it is not properly cared for. Make sure you keep it in tip-top condition by regular vacuuming.
