History Of Persian Rug!

The History of Persian rugs Weaving is one of the most ancient crafts in the world. It is mentioned in the Old Testament and in Homers Iliad. Documents about weaving exist from the period of the Sassanid Dynasty, Which ruled Persia from the third century to the middle of the seventh century. Rugs woven in Persia are referred to in the Chinese sui annals (590-617-A.D). And who can forget Cleopatra’s famous encounter with Caesar, arriving at his feet rolled up in a Persian carpet. We did explain about the oldest rug in the world before Pazyryk rug. In the time of (531-579 A.D.)The Persian king Chosroes I, to celebrate his defeat of Romans and his conquest of southern Arabia, ordered a very special carpet to be made for his palace at Ctesiphon. This rug was known as Spring Carpet of Chosroes and was the most expensive carpet ever made. They are saying that it measured as much as four hundred feet long by almost one hundred feet wide (121.8 x 30.50m) and it was more than two tons. But in 627, King Chosroes II was defeated by the Byzantine emperor Heraclius, who did not appreciate the carpet, he did let people to cut pieces from the rug and take them home as souvenirs
